Commercial software vendors release frequent security updates for antivirus definitions, intrusion detection sensor signature files and security-related operating system patches as new threats and vulnerabilities are discovered. The big question is: do you know what you are getting and will it work seamlessly on your network? Motorola's Security Update Service addresses these concerns for you. Once the updates have been validated, you are notified and provided instructions to download from a secure extranet website that do not adversely impact your communication networks.

Features

    Reduces risk to your network
    Tests and verifies commercial security software updates to ensure they do not negatively impact your communications network, and enhancements are also offered for stricter control requirements such as UNIX antivirus definitions, third-party patching, quarterly scanning to continuously enhance the security posture of your network. By providing antivirus signature updates and Operating System patches that have already been tested and approved, compatibility is ensured. Technical support is provided should there be any issue with the deployment of pre-tested antivirus signatures.

    Alerts you when verified updates are ready
    E-mail notifications on new update availability as well as access to a Motorola secure extranet that will enable you to download the pre-tested, certified security updates at any time that is convenient for you.

    Regular releases
    Windows boxes automatically have patches transferred once a month and are applied upon reboot of the computer; Solaris and Red Hat patches are coordinated between Motorola and the customer once a quarter; Symantec antivirus definitions are applied weekly and McAfee UNIX antivirus definitions are applied bi-weekly.

    Supports System Releases
    Under our standard offering for ASTRO 25, SUS supports the currently shipping ASTRO 25 System Release and three prior system releases (service support can be acquired for up to five prior releases), however for Motorola Dimetra Systems, the pre tested Antivirus update service and OS Security Patching Service support the currently shipping Motorola Dimetra system release and 5 prior releases.

    With assurance that patches are being applied to the system network to increase security and help create consistency across the network, we work to help increase compliance with several government mandates by means of a more automated and consistent approach and reduce the total cost associated with manually applying patches.
